Cooking with Banana Man: Burrito Night

“It’s very hard to have ideas. It’s very hard to put yourself out there, it’s very hard to be vulnerable, but those people who do that are the dreamers, the thinkers and the creators. They are the magic people of the world.”Amy Poehler

A couple of weeks ago Josh was doing a decimal project for his 5th grade class and needed a "creative" way to show his work. The assignment was centered around estimating food prices for a family meal.

Josh decided he wanted to do a cooking show AND do the show as Banana Man (his Halloween costume this past year).

YES!  Of course this is a most excellent idea!!!!

Soon we were in the supermarket, kitchen, and by the grill getting a meal prepared.  I'll let the video tell the story, but in case you'd like to replicate this adventure at home, here's what you need:

Chicken Burritos

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts, in your favorite marinade
  • 1 can black beans
  • grated cheese
  • flour tortillas
  • 1 cup rice

Any additional toppings such as sour cream, salsa, hot sauce

S'mores dessert

  • Chocolate chips
  • Marshmallows
  • Graham Crackers

"Bronco Beer"

  • Fanta & Root Beer

Now for the detailed instructions (be sure to watch until the end for some post credit shenanigans.)

This kid is always one of the "magic people of this world," but never more so than when he's Banana Man.

Now let me know if you'd like another episode.  I might be able to persuade him to come back.
