Easy Marble Cake
I love having visitors over because it allows me to try all kinds of new dessert recipes. However, since I have a group over every other week, I am sometimes pressed to make these new recipes QUICKLY! One of my recent finds (here) was particularly fast, so I thought I'd pass it along!
Here's what you need
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- A Bundt pan!
Make sure your oven's baking rack is in the center, then preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray the bundt pan and set aside.
In a glass bowl, mircowave the chocolate chips so they melt. Do this by heating for 30 seconds then stirring then heating for another 20-30 seconds. When the chips are melted, set aside.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer (hand-held or stationary) blend together cake mix, sour cream, water, and eggs. Make sure the ingredients are well-blended and smooth. This usually takes two minutes.
Spoon 2 cups of the cake batter into the melted chocolate chips and blend together.
Pour half of the remaining cake batter into the bundt pan, then pour in the chocolate batter.
Top with another layer of yellow cake batter. Bake for 55 minutes or until the cake can pass the "toothpick test" (i.e., when you stick a toothpick in the cake, it comes out clean).
Allow the cake to cool completely before removing from the pan.
After you remove the cake, top with a little powdered sugar for show. Or, if you'd rather, serve with a scoop of ice cream.
Do NOT ever leave the dog alone with the cake.
When you cut into the cake you'll notice the chocolate bits will vary in size. Fun!
Now wasn't that easy?!
Enjoy!!
