The List: Little Tart Bakeshop
If you've ever followed the Creative Loafing Best Dish List, you know Little Tart Bakeshop is a favorite. In the 2013 issue, their croissant made the list for good reason. If you've ever had a croissant in both Paris and at Little Tart, you would swear they are the same.
This place is legit.
So I was thrilled when I saw another entrant on the 2015 list, the Almond Croissant. The classic version of this pastry is made with almond paste, almonds, and rum (recipe here) and this version is very similar except Little Tart uses Southern Bourbon instead.
My first visit to Little Tart was at the Octane, but now that they have a location in Krog St. Market, I wander past their goodies at a regular clip. Unfortunately, they are almost always out of these bad boys by lunch time (which is when I'm there).
Then I went by on Friday...
What is that I see?? A croissant is left in the case. Woot!!I snagged the last one even though I wasn't hungry and took it home for a treat later in the day.
How about this close up?That flaky crust is divine. But the filling inside is equally as tasty.Delish! Most definitely list worthy. Swing by and get one.
I don't even want to think about the calories.
