The List: Canoe
There are so many reasons to love the Creative Loafing Best Dish List, but among my favorites is the way it "forces" me to order dishes I would otherwise avoid. Honestly, I would never, ever order a corndog (the Fryinstein) made with a beef frank, kielbasa, and Italian sausage unless I had a GOAL to eat one and made the effort to try.
Similarly, ordering a popcorn sundae isn't exactly at the top of my personal taste list. I'm more naturally drawn to a fruity dessert or, in the case of a visit to Canoe, the chocolate grotto (DEEEEvine!!!). However, the challenge must be met, and so I order the sundae. Fortunately, this was a belated birthday treat so I felt a little less indulgent. Now I had made myself a promise I wouldn't eat it all. But then I took a closer look:
The picture only tells 1,000 of the 5,000 words you could use for this deliciousness.
Sweet. Salty. Crunchy. Caramelly.
Lots of "y" - oh so good. I won't ever go back to the chocolate grotto. And I doubt that I'll ever share.
The only thing better than the dessert, was the company! Thanks Amy for always treating me so well!!!
